Ryan has always had a sense of adventure and Amanda has always been the cautious one. Neither knew what was waiting for them on an impromptu study abroad trip to South Africa in June of 2014. Ryan saw Amanda from across the room at the very first meeting and knew he had to get to know her. Amanda was crazy about him from the moment he told her that her boots were smoking around a raging campfire. From there, the rest was history. They fell in love under the African stars and never looked back.

Ryan had been planning for a while, but could never find just the right time. He had called Amanda's dad and asked for her hand. He had bought the ring. They had shared so many special moments. Finally, one day when Amanda came home from work, the perfect opportunity presented itself. She had just gotten a letter board in the mail and was excited to write something witty on it. Ryan immediately stole the board out of her hands so he could be the first to write a message on it (much to Amanda's chagrin). He first wrote "I love you" and then disappeared. He came back with round two: "will you marry me?" and the most beautiful ring Amanda had ever seen. Totally surprised and wondering if she was really lucky enough to get to spend forever with this man, Amanda couldn't believe it. Ryan made it clear he wasn't going to ask again and of course, she said YES!
