Ryan and I met through my roommate at the beginning of our freshman year at the University of Kentucky. We were both out of state students who came to college with a handful of high school friends that quickly became a close group. Our group of friends did everything together like going to UK football and basketball games, and lots of studying. Ryan and I went on our first date in January of 2015, he met my parents in March and we officially started dating in May of 2015, just in time to go back to separate states for the summer (lol). Once we got back to Kentucky for our sophomore year, we were inseparable. And the rest is history!
For the last year or so, Ryan’s answer to “so, when are you going to propose?” started to be “after you graduate”. After graduating from PT school in May and taking the boards exam in July, my parents gifted us a much needed vacation. We took a trip to Florida to see my parents and then spent a few days in Clearwater, FL. The first day of our trip it rained most of the way there, right until we pulled into the hotel. That night we went to a nice dinner to celebrate finally finishing school and the biggest exam of my life. After dinner, Ryan asked if I wanted to take a walk on the beach to watch the sunset (which if you know me that answer was obviously, yes). As the sun started setting Ryan asked if we should take a picture to send to my parents and that’s when he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him (and if you know me that answer was also, obviously, yes!). Despite the rain most of the day, we ended up with the most beautiful sunset, which I think is a good sign! Truly, after 9 years together it could not have been a more perfect time or place. We are so excited to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter with you all! 🤍
