Natalie Kraus

Maid of Honor

Natalie and Alyssa’s sisterhood has been filled with wild adventures, happiness and joy, struggles and lessons learned, and so much more. They made it through college with one another’s support and by each other’s sides, and are now raising their fur babies together while they do their best to “adult”. As life has progressed, Natalie has remained a constant for Alyssa. She is always there when she needs her and will never say no to a good karaoke duet or dance session. Natalie’s smile, laugh and kindness are contagious and Alyssa can’t wait for many more of their adventures, including the big day.

Clayton Bloor

Best Man

Ryan and Clayton’s friendship started eons ago when they “raced” against each other in middle school track. Clayton was a far better distance runner than Ryan at that time, which inspired Ryan to train and eventually become the runner he is today. Ryan and Clayton caused all sorts of mischief and mayhem in church, high school, and beyond. Ryan is in awe of Clayton’s drive and commitment towards his family and hopes to mimic those same family values in the future. Clayton is not just a friend to Ryan, but also a brother, and no matter where they are in life, Ryan knows he can count on him to be there for him.

Jessica Vogan

Maid of Honor

Jessica is the definition of an amazing sister and friend - from chasing mean boys off the playground to providing a place to live when times were hard, Jessica has always supported Alyssa in the most needed ways. Jessica is the person who taught Alyssa to snowboard and mountain bike – two things life would be dull and less adventurous without. Jessica is ambitious, brave and independent and has taught Alyssa to stand up for what she believes in. Gunnison holds a special place in both their hearts and Alyssa is excited to marry Ryan there, with Jessica by her side.

David Wilbur

Best Man

Ryan first met David 32 years ago when their mom, Janet, decided that Ryan was not enough. He is the wittiest and most clever person that Ryan knows and Ryan is honored to be able to call him his brother. They have saved universes and faced insurmountable odds like King Dedede, Ganon, and hordes of zombies. Some of Ryan’s fondest memories with David are playing video games together and traveling through National Parks before he was dropped off in Arizona for school. Ryan has always been able to rely on David no matter what and could not imagine a better brother to grow up with in this crazy world.

Kaya Burnett

Bridesmaid

Kaya has brought so much joy to Alyssa’s life in just 12 (almost 13!) short years. Kaya is a force to be reckoned with – she is so kind, unique, creative and funny. Even though Kaya is a Slytherin, and Alyssa is Gryffindor, they have been able to move past their differences so they can share their love for all things Harry Potter. She will always be Kaya Monkey, and Alyssa will always be Auntie Pooh – getting older won’t change that! Alyssa has learned so much from Kaya and is excited to see her become an amazing young woman.

Loren Ahonen

Groomsman

Loren and Ryan first met during Ryan’s Western cross-country college running years. They competed with each other to make the National team (Loren was far more talented than he was). They both made the team Ryan’s last at Western to get second as a team. Loren’s charisma and kindness are qualities Ryan has always admired and has tried to emulate throughout his life. Even with their different life paths, whether through text messages or sleeping on Loren’s floor, they have always been able to pick up where they left off like no time had passed at all. Loren has been a friend in the truest since of the word and Ryan is lucky to be his friend.

Megan Flittie

Bridesmaid

Alyssa and Megan met in their final year of college and bonded over their love of live music, dancing and dogs. They’ve been roommates, coworkers, zombie ballerinas, running buddies, huckleberry pickers and much more. Megan is a one-of-a-kind friend - she is honest, hilarious, adventurous, kind, and will embroider you artwork of your pets (it doesn’t get better than that). Megan has taught Alyssa everything she knows about being the world’s best cat and dog mom. Although it has been a long time since they have lived in the same state, every time they visit one another or go on a trip together, it is like there has never been distance between them. Megan’s friendship is sincere and incomparable and Alyssa is honored to have her by her side on the big day.

Caleb Roberts

Groomsman

Caleb and Ryan met during his first wildlife job out of college (2009) in Glacier National Park. They lived in a tiny cabin working for $20/day, but they were some of Ryan’s favorite memories. Ryan’s first backpacking trip was hiking to Lake Francis (17miles) in Glacier National Park with him. We have remained in touch over the years meeting in the Calderas of New Mexico, playing Yahtzee over zoom, and collaborating on research. It is an honor to call him a friend and Ryan is excited to continue our adventures.

Deb Semler

Bridesmaid

Deb is a fantastic human whose friendship means the world to Alyssa. Although their friendship is relatively new, Alyssa feels Deb has become a staple in her life. Deb accepted Alyssa’s quirkiness from day one and is one of the best listeners a person can find. Together, they explore their creative and artistic sides through painting, sock puppet making and singing the Phantom of the Opera (Ryan’s favorite). The world needs more people as patient and kind as Deb, and Alyssa feels so lucky to have her in her life.

Aaron Hall

Groomsman

Aaron and Ryan’s paths crossed through Defenders of Wildlife. It was Ryan’s first big kid job, and Aaron was kind enough to take me under his wing. Coincidentally they lived a block away from each other, so they got into some festive tomfoolery. Aaron has been a great camping and hiking companion in Colorado when Ryan needed to get away from PhDing. Aaron is a jack of all trade’s kind of guy, and Ryan has learned so much about research, carpentry, and life from him. Even though Ryan doesn’t work at Defenders anymore, they continue to be close friends and Ryan will always value their friendship.
