Alex and Ryan met through mutual friends when they both relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2015 (thanks, Max and Kiara!). They quickly became inseparable best friends but never considered dating. After three years of friendship, Ryan finally decided to ask Alex on a date. Their first date was at the Salt Cellar in Scottsdale, Arizona. The couple relocated to Austin, Texas in 2019.

Alex and Ryan used to 'staycation' at the Hermosa Inn, a boutique hotel, in Scottsdale, Arizona. In April 2021, Ryan surprised Alex with a weekend trip back to their favorite place. Little did Alex know, Ryan had something special planned. Saturday night, Ryan led Alex to a secluded garden on the property and popped the question! That evening they celebrated with dinner and champagne in the hotel's private wine cellar.
