Ryan and Adrianna have known each other for roughly 10 years. They met around High School and share the same group of friends. Shortly after high school, Ryan moved north to attend, first Cornish, School of the Arts and then DigiPen, to pursue his love for animation. Adrianna moved to Portland to pursue education and a career. Ryan would travel down to visit friends and attend events, where they would have casual encounters, but not really spending any time together. Acquaintances within the same circle. After moving back to Battle Ground, it was the first time the two had an opportunity to really get to know one another. Both having lived and loved, they began to look to each other for advise, and lean on each other during times of heart break. They became fast friends, spending as much time with each other as they could. Never had simply being yourself been so easy. Never had talking about your fears and anxieties been so comfortable. It wasn't until late Summer of 2016 that they realized the deep friendship they shared could possibly mean so much more. To some, it seemed obvious. But, to them, it was as if the clouds had lifted and the stars aligned. It became impossible for them to imagine their futures without one another, and soon they plan to share this commitment before their dearest friends and loved ones.
The day before Adrianna's birthday, Ryan invited her to meet him at the mall with his sister for some dinner and a bit of shopping. While at dinner, Ryan explains to Adrianna that they had received some free tickets to see Beauty and the Beast's 'midnight' (7:00 pm) showing. Not one to say no to a free offer, or to Beauty and the Beast (who are we kidding), Adrianna quickly agreed to the change of plans. As the trailers start, they sit through several children's movie previews and finally Wonder Woman. This was the trailer Ryan's sister, Katie, was really excited to see, and as this is Adrianna's favorite superhero. She was entranced. The trailer closed and violins open to another trailer. The narrator begins, "We meet so many people in our lives, many people we meet come and go through the journey of life.... " Ryan is shaking and sweating, but he is holding himself so well that Adrianna is clueless. The music intensifies and the trailer continues, "When you went to the theater to watch Swiss Army Man. When you traveled to Victoria and explored the beautiful city together. When you sat in bed at night sharing your dreams of traveling to Italy and Scotland..." at this Adrianna turns and asks Ryan what is going on. She turns back to the screen. Tears welling in her eyes. Pictures of their lives start to flash across the screen. Pictures of the two of them. The trailer closes and Ryan gets down on one knee. "Adrianna Mae Neil, will you marry me?" Speechless, she simply nods her head and gives Ryan her hand. Any distance is too far for them and she jumps up and kisses Ryan while the movie's audience begins their applause. At this, they watch the movie and don't remember any of it.
