When Tess transferred to the Chicago College of Performing Arts in 2015, her suitemate suggested they go out to a free concert at Millennium Park with some friends. Everyone met near The Bean, and that was the first time Tess and Ryan saw each other. When Tess heard Ryan played clarinet, she was immediately intrigued, since clarinet is her favorite instrument. They got to talking - Tess rambled because she was nervous but Ryan wanted to hear it anyway. They should have started dating right then, but it took another 7 months for Ryan to finally ask her out! After all, the best relationships are built on friendship.

After a semester spending time together, Tess and Ryan finally went on a date! When the day of the first date arrived... Tess got sick. She wanted to skip the date and sleep it off, but she'd been waiting so long for this date, and worried that Ryan wouldn’t ask her out again. So, Tess downed some cold medicine and set off on her date. Ryan and Tess went to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for their first date. The date was romantic and wonderful, and afterward, they started finding ways to spend time together almost every day. The two quickly fell head-over-heels in love and realized they were a perfect fit. Tess and Ryan balance each other out - Ryan is an introvert and Tess is an extrovert, Ryan is quiet and Tess is loud, Ryan is calm and Tess is dramatic. They have grown together and have changed for the better. Ryan and Tess, opposites yet alike in so many ways, two sides of the same coin, best friends, soulmates, soon to be husband and wife.
