Our First Date

~*~Told by Paris~*~ Almost a decade after high school, I saw Ryan again at church. He was so handsome in his suit! After chatting, I asked him on a date to Olive Garden (so I thought). Turns out he thought we were just meeting up with other friends. I got all dolled up with my little date outfit on, and he showed up in super casual clothes asking where my friends were - so ... totally not a date! Gah ^-^ We had a really nice time catching up though and after that I knew I was interested. ~*~Told by Ryan~*~ I was deaconing at church and holding an offering plate while the church members were exiting the sanctuary and who do I see but Paris! It had been so long since I had seen her and I was so surprised! I had a crush on her back in high school so I tried to play it cool when she came up to me to stay hello (I was still at the door with the offering plate). I probably failed miserably! We chatted for a while and she started mentioning how she hadn't seen other mutual friends of ours in so long and how she wanted to catch up. She invited me to go to Olive Garden and I was so down for it but in the context of what we had just been talking about I thought that she was talking about a group get together! She was already there when I got there and looked so beautiful. But there was not another person we knew in sight! I asked her where everyone was and she gave me this look of confusion. It finally hit me when we got to the table what was going on! Table for 2! The rest is history. P.S. I was NOT wearing super casual clothes! I had a button up shirt on and some jeans! I'm not a jeans and dress shoes kinda guy but what I've learned about Paris is that if you're wearing sneakers then your outfit is automatically downgraded to casual! 😂

The Proposal

~*~Told by Paris~*~ Nov 2019 - Ryan was invited to interview for a fellowship opportunity in Hawaii. He stopped by my apartment after work to surprise me with an invitation to come along and help him make his decision. We began planning the trip for the following week, and excitedly I asked him what I should wear to his preliminary interview dinner once we arrived. Since he had just gotten off a long shift, he drowsily looked to me, his mouth forming a big yawn and said, “just wear the dress you are going to wear for the proposal.” ...PROPOSAL !?! And he turned right back around like nothing happened! Lol oh Ryan :) Ryan’s proposal was so incredible that even though I knew his plans, I was still ugly-crying when he bent on one knee. I kept saying, “I’m so happy!” between sobs. He goes, ”make sure your face knows that” Ha! He’s amazing. It was very ‘us’, and I wouldn’t have it another way. ~*~Told by Ryan~*~ I was invited to Hawaii to interview for an opportunity for a position in the Child/Adolescent Psych program there. I had been trying to come up with a way to propose to Paris and felt that this was a way to make things special. One evening I was over at Paris' apartment while she was packing for our trip. I had been in contact with a photographer there who was helping me set up the day and we had been corresponding back and forth right before I saw Paris. I had come off a particularly busy overnight shift and was still tired. Paris lamented that she did not know what dress to wear for the interview dinner. Sleepily I said, "Just...just wear the dress you are going to wear for the proposal.” "Proposal?!" she said. "NOOOOO!!!!!" my mind screamed and I scrambled to come up with some kind of excuse but my sleep deprived brain betrayed me! I was mortified! Then I found out that my co-worker's wife told her 2 months prior. But we didn't let that stop us and I was still able to switch things up and surprise her a little bit.
