In 2014, Ryan started working as an auditor at CBIZ. He was assigned to his first client where he met Lacy, the senior auditor (aka - his boss). Upon meeting, we both thought the other looked familiar, but couldn't quite put our finger on why. It was later discovered that we both lived in Allen Hall at NAU our freshman year of college. Even though we lived down the hall from one another, our paths never crossed. A year later, while at the same client, Lacy expressed her extreme need for food. Immediately, Ryan ran downstairs and bought bagels in order to avoid this impending catastrophe. He knew early on the key to her heart was through her stomach! Upon his return, Lacy knew that this was someone special. Around the same time as the bagel emergency, the interns had to do a video project to describe the "day in the life of an auditor". The interns chose to make the plot of their video a parody of "The Bachelorette". Lacy was cast as the "bachelorette", and the interns thought Ryan was the perfect candidate to win her heart. The interns wrote a scene where Ryan reads Lacy a poem about his true feelings and confesses his love. At the time, we laughed about how awkward the situation was, unaware fate was working its magic! While the video was eventually updated to be more relevant to auditing instead of finding romance in the workplace, the interns had planted the seed for the start of our relationship. After that, our friendship began to grow, and a few months later, we attended Oktoberfest together. The chemistry between us at that festival was undeniable. We finally let fate take over, and we have been together ever since!

Ryan had planned a surprise trip to Sedona! He told Lacy about traveling to Sedona, but all details were kept secret. When Lacy got home from work, Ryan was standing in the kitchen with a bottle of champagne and a romantic playlist to set the tone for the weekend! After jamming out to the playlist for two hours, we arrived at beautiful the L'Auberge de Sedona Resort. We were escorted to our creekside cottage where we spent the weekend playing games, drinking wine, and celebrating our love with romantic dinners! On the second day after dinner, we returned to our cottage and decided to lay out on the deck to enjoy the sunset. Ryan said he had one last surprise for the weekend, and he handed Lacy a letter. The letter described Ryan's feelings for Lacy, and it was followed by a poem from The Office (Lacy's all time favorite TV show that she watches daily). When Lacy finished reading, Ryan took her hands, and said "There are no words," and got down on one knee! Lacy burst into tears of excitement and said YES!!
