Caitlin and Adam met in a 300 level marketing class 10 years ago that Caitlin signed up too late for (shocker) and therefore, wasn't guaranteed a seat. Thankfully she knew Barb, previous PSE prez (shoutout Ryan), and she snuck right in and slipped into the second row, directly in front of Adam. That day they were assigned their groups for the semester, based on their seats. Caitlin, Adam, and the three other bums around them that never really bothered to show up or contribute. So, Adam with the most impeccable handwriting known to man, and Caitlin with her marketing-wired brain did every assignment just like that...Caitlin told Adam exactly what to write down and he wrote it down beautifully. A few weeks later, Caitlin came back from Spring break in Florida, as was tradition, and she wore her favorite white, open back, American flag top from Charlotte Russe — Adam was in awe. He quaked, "You're like really tan." Caitlin replied, "Thanks!" and tossed her curled blonde hair, calculated. It worked. Flash forward to the first outside of class hangout...Adam had asked Caitlin to come do karaoke with his friends at Galileo's. Egle was occupied, so Caitlin agreed, and joined a group of almost strangers, sober and nervous, wearing Egle's now infamous shoes. IYKYK. Neither Adam or Caitlin can remember how Adam came up with the song choice, but he signed the two of them up to sing "Follow Me," by Uncle Kracker. Caitlin, sober, underage, and surrounded by new people, was not as bold as she is now. Adam has been the same person as he was since he exited the womb and had the privilege of being 21; he carried the tune as Caitlin giggled into the mic with tears in her eyes, holding her stomach from laughing so hard at Adam actually not even singing that bad at the banger, playing loudly. Adam has always made her laugh. The party continued after this as Caitlin got to know Adam's friends, Ben and Roen. She quickly felt at ease and comfortable around these people, seeing their friendship like strings intertwined, glowing with each joke and laugh. It all felt how it was "supposed to" and simple; she had never experienced that before. So, when the next day rolled around, she didn't text Adam back...for weeks or was it months. Adam was patient! (the crowd goes wild) But seriously, they both made the AWESOME decision to stay in Boone for the summer and then, Caitlin had a seizure. (This is the last one she has had to date, making her 10 years seizure free in May 2026! 🎉) From her extremely vague memory and Adam's recollection, she texted him and told him that she had one (okay girl, way to get that attention) and he literally brought her App Cookie Co to her apartment and met her parents...WHO DOES THAT?! They were inseparable after that. Two weeks later, Adam was like, "So, do you want to come up to my Maw Maw's mountain house with me and my family this weekend (tomorrow)." "I don't think they would want you to bring a random girl to your family mountain weekend," Caitlin said. "Then will you be my girlfriend?" Adam asked. She said yes and Caitlin went to Bryson City with the Hothersalls and was nervous again, but not for long. She had that scary, simple feeling all over again and knew it was right. Especially when she almost died in Deep Creek and Britt had to rescue her. This would not be the last embarrassing family tubing trip.
