Michael and I met at Hopfly Brewing in Charlotte, NC after Michael approached my table and asked if he could join while he waited for his friends. Little did we know this introduction would be the start of our story together.
Michael asked me out just a couple of short weeks after we met, but I was going to be out of the country so I asked for a raincheck. After a couple of months, Michael and I hadn't reconnected but I couldn't stop thinking of the impression he made the day we met. I decided to go out on a limb and asked if he'd ever want to cash in on a raincheck. Thankfully he said yes and suggested we go to the same brewery where we met. The rest is history.
After several months of getting to know each other, Michael asked me to be his girlfriend on the night of October 15. The next day my sister, Maria, and I flew to California where we were invited to have dinner with Michael's family for the first time. Despite Michael not being there, the Garretts felt like family even after that first night.
I came home from work to find flowers, pictures, and a handwritten card from Michael in my room. He picked me up and gifted me disposable cameras to document our date together. We spent the night taking photos, laughing, and recounting memories over the last two years. While sitting at dinner together, he said he had one last gift for me and that's when he handed me an envelope and card that read he knew he wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. The next thing I knew, Michael was down on one knee next to me and I was in tears. After the proposal, we kept the engagement to ourselves for a couple of hours to walk around Charlotte and exchange stories that led up to the proposal. The whole night was a whirlwind, but it's one we'll treasure for the rest of our lives.
We invite you to join us by witnessing the commitment we make to each other in the presence of God and our family and friends. We hope this day marks the beginning of a marriage filled with love and many memories.
