We met at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in West Ashley, SC back in 2022. I was a convert to the Catholic faith and Ruth was a ravishing medical resident who was new to the area. I could never get any time alone to ask her out so I messaged her over Facebook. I'm surprised she agreed to go out with me! We started dating in 2023, hit it off immediately, and had many things in common. On our fifth date Ruth noticed that I was reading something on my phone. I had scheduled our date down to 15 minute blocks and was checking to see if we were on schedule. She laughed because she had scheduled our previous date the same way! We met each other's families early on and we hit it off with them too. After two years of dating I nervously started a conversation with her parents when they were in town. They gave me their blessing and I gave Ruth my heart. I proposed to her on a star-filled night out in Joshua Tree National Park on May 21st, 2025. This photo of the night sky was taken by me moments before I asked for her hand in marriage. It was the greatest trip of my life! Below is a photo of us re-enacting our first date on our first anniversary. We went to the same restaurant and even wore the same outfits! Ruth has only grown more wonderful in my eyes. We would both be honored if you would join us at our nuptial mass on May 30th, 2026 at the very same church where we met: St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Jered and I first met at St. Joseph Catholic Church's Young Adult group. I was drawn to his kindness, thoughtful comments during group discussions, and punny sense of humor. Rumor has it that I pinched his elbow while talking to him at a Christmas party, which per Jered, clued him in that I was attracted to him. I don't recall said elbow pinch, but perhaps this is the perfect example of a Freudian slip of my mind. Jered asked me out 6 months later while on my ICU rotation, and after just a few weeks of dating, I knew that he was the one for me. Two years later, to my surprise (don't worry, he had the sense to talk to me about getting married beforehand) and delight, he asked me to marry him under the National Dark Sky of Joshua Tree National Park. I'd asked that he not buy a ring before popping the question, so the following day we made a trip to Palm Dessert, CA, to pick out a ring together. I am really happy that we did because he was going to buy a ring design that was the exact opposite of what I would have chosen. lol. Jered is the only reason I've been able to make it through residency alive and well. He wears many hats including being my biggest cheerleader, supporter, personal chef, Suki/plant babysitter, prayer and dance partner, and best friend. I cannot imagine anyone else being by my side to face the ups and downs of life with. We would love for you to join us in celebrating our marriage on May 30 in Charleston!
