This is about an hour past our wedding location in Lake George, and two hours outside of Colorado Springs. It is 100% worth the drive, with incredible views and hot springs nestled into the foothills in a sweet mountain town at the end of it.
Take a day and go up the mountain Bryan proposed to Ruth on top of! "America the Beautiful" was written on top of Pikes Peak, you can see all the way into Kansas from the top! Plenty of places to pull off and hike or have a picnic on the way up, or go all the way to the top of this 14,000 ft peak and have the famous doughnuts while you're up there!
Stunning. Breathtaking. Majestic. Red Rocks framing Pikes Peak, a very easy walk in immense beauty in this public park. Bring water! If you're the adventurous type, book a guided rock climbing tour and enjoy the views from the top of the red rocks!
Quirky and funky little mountain town at the base of Pikes Peak. Grab some Maté tea, CBD infused coffee, and street food as you peruse the eclectic shops for rubber duckies, t shirts, henna tattoos, fur lined caps, blown glass, and more. There's a penny arcade and you can get free mineral water flowing from Manitou's own fresh water spring. Some people still believe it has magical healing properties!
The Manitou Incline gains nearly 2,000 feet of elevation over less than 1 mile. It's not for the faint of heart, but people from all walks (or climbs) of life have successfully conquered it. It is a staircase straight up the side of Pikes Peak. Difficulty level : extreme. Bragging rights : infinite.
Sit out on the patio and enjoy a cheese and fruit plate with your mini tasting flight, or a full size flight of these local and unique wines! Ruth's favorites are the Peach Chardonnay and the Blackberry Merlot. Don't miss this local gem if you're visiting Manitou!
Inside the old IvyWild School are many hidden gems, two of which are the Principal's Office (a craft coffee and cocktail shop) and next door is Bristol Brewing. Locally owned and brewed, enjoy a beer with ambiance (and maybe a soft pretzel)
