Thirteen years ago on June 13, 2021, Natasha's boss at the time won tickets to see the rock band, Deaf Pedestrians, from a radio contest and did what anyone would do...give them away. Natasha, and her friend, Natasha Walz (Findley), being the thrill-seekers they are, took up the opportunity to rock out with the Blind Jaywalkers-I mean the Deaf Pedestrians-at Kearney, Nebraska's Event Center. Meanwhile, Rusty's friend, Grant, scored some Deaf Pedestrian tickets for the same night, and as fans of live music, set off for the Event Center, too. During an intermission, Natasha and Natasha saw this broad-shouldered, green-eyed, well-dressed, attractive man as he passed by on his phone. A sophisticated giggle-sesh ensued, "DID YOU JUST SEE THAT GUY!?!" Two minutes later, muscle-man came circling back on his phone with the pickup line that started it all, "I gotta let you go, I'm staring at a couple of hot girls." The Natashas greeted Rusty, stating the names their parents gave them, but Rusty thought it was a game. In Rusty's defense, what are the odds of meeting two Natashas at the same time? Rusty proceeded, "I'm Romeo Jet, but my friends call me RJ." It's been one heck of a comedy tour, adventure, and journey ever since.
The love of live entertainment brought two people with similar interests together: dog/pet lovers, ethnic food enthusiasts, an athlete and a runner; an educator and a rights activist; and, we strive to be the change we want to see in the world. It also brought people together who are different: chips vs. whole food; future vs. in the moment; collector of all things vs. collector of some things; do it yourself vs. pay a professional; executor vs. processor; a sports fanatic vs. a feminist; stubborn vs. more stubborn. We have learned over the years that our differences keep us both balanced and connected with our breadth of knowledge and experiences - we get to learn and grow from each other every day. How beautiful is that?!
