All photography on this website was taken by the extremely talented Lauren Webster of Morgantown, West Virginia. Lauren took engagement photos for us in downtown Morgantown in January 2019.

How We Met

I don't think either of us were looking for anyone. I (Dave) got a last-minute invite to an "orphans" Thanksgiving at the Dunaway's house. Molly was their legally-trained dog-sitter, and also an orphan, so she rated an invite, too. I spent the pre-meal hour or two in the kitchen, making gravy and generally finishing off the meal. Once we sat down, Molly ended up next to me (planned?), and we started chatting. I honestly don't remember what we were talking about (Molly edit: we were talking politics; mainly about Trump being elected), but at one point I noticed that everyone had left the table, and we were the last two left. Huh. On the way home, my ride told me that Molly was really into me, but I didn't think so. By the time I got home, Molly had emailed me. We agreed to meet up again...but only three weeks later. (Molly edit: he straight up told me he was busy and would talk to me when he had time and then went radio silent.) It was the end of the semester, and I literally had no scheduled time to do anything. We met up after grades got turned in, and we went out to a foofy restaurant, where Molly pretended to like food she really didn't. The next date was at my little house, where we made Christmas decorations, since I didn't have any up, and that was clearly unacceptable (Molly edit: I burned my fingers so badly on a hot glue gun). I'm not really sure when it become official, but sometime early on in 2017 we fell into dating, and here we are.

How He Proposed

We knew we were at the point where we wanted to get me (Molly) a ring. We had a hard time finding a ring I actually liked. We looked in New York City and Pittsburgh but didn't find something that suited us. I found a ring at Spencer and Kuehn in Morgantown that I actually liked. I called Dave. As I was driving home that evening, I made my usual phone call to let him know I was on my way. He told me my ring was on the table along with my new shoes. And that was the proposal. No getting on one knee. No profession of undying love. It was 100% Dave and absolutely perfect. His alternate plan was having a plane fly overhead with a sign that read "Will you marry me?" but not list the name. The goal was to create chaos for any couples who may also be looking up at the sky. Sadly, that plan never came to fruition, but the proposal or lack thereof was still very much Dave and Molly.
