While we always knew of each other and had some of the same friends, we never really talked to each other until our Church's youth group our senior/junior years. It was a Wednesday night vigil, and I was on my phone playing Balloon Tower Defense 5 and Madalyn kept telling me to get off my phone and to pay attention. Well, Mandy, Madalyn's mom, didn't see me playing, but did hear Madalyn talking, so she pulled her out of church. I felt bad the remainder of the service and went out to apologize but just saw Mandy and Madalyn laughing away in the kitchen. Although I did still apologize in person, it was a snapchat to Madalyn later apologizing again that started the daily communication. Fast forward to February, it was midday on a Saturday and while I was working out, Madalyn was lying in bed napping. So, I made the comment to her that it "must be nice" to just nap all day; somehow that led to hanging out at Madalyn's house the following week along with mutual friends. While hanging out a week later, the two mutual friends decided to leave so we just happened to find ourselves hanging out alone (except for the family dog Rubio who had a go-pro on him). Following that night, we continued to hang out weekly until I asked Madalyn to be my girlfriend on March 2nd, 2018. Since that point, we have gone from high school throughout college (and grad school) to both working full time.
