As many of you know, Kylie and Russell aren't the most timely people. There was definitely no exception when it came to getting to classes on time in college. Luckily, one fateful day both of them were early to their computer information systems class. Kylie came up surprised to see some geeky yet handsome guy playing chess on his phone in the hallway, but she was intrigued and sparked up a conversation about it. This ultimately lead them to sit next to each other in class. Over the next couple of weeks, they began talking and getting to know each other more until Russell gathered up enough courage to ask her to go on a date. Kylie was a little skeptical at first especially after hearing he wanted to take her on a hike. Good thing the late great Princess Sabrina, the sweetest girl dog, was there to ease her worries. They went on the hike at Corwina Park and everything was going great until the sun started setting. Distracted by fun conversations, Russell did not realize which trail they took until they were already lost on the other side of the mountain. Russell began to panic and knew they couldn't go back to where they came from safely. Kylie was starting to feel like she was in the beginning of a horror film. As if this wasn't embarrassing enough, Russell had to bite the bullet and call his Mom to come and save them. Surely Kylie wouldn't want to go on a date with him after this Russell thought, but Sabrina was too hard to resist. This sparked a beautiful relationship and built the foundation for their little family.

Russell decided to take Kylie on a surprise hike date on a brisk day in March. The sun was out so they couldn't pass up the opportunity to get outside and soak it up during one of the cold months in Colorado. When they arrived at the trail head they noticed that the ground was muddy and slushy, but thought what the heck we're already here. They held hands while slipping and sliding up the mountain and laughing the whole way. When they got to the top there was a park bench with exceptional views of the mountain range. They thought this would be a great spot to stop and take a break. Once Kylie sat down Russell got on one knee (in the slushy-mud), pulled out a ring, and popped the question. Without hesitation - She Said Yes!
