Kingston: Kingston’s Stockade District is a great area to walk around with many shops and restaurants all close by. Our hotel block at the Kinsley is in the middle of this area. Woodstock (20-minute drive from Kingston): Woodstock is famous for its artsy vibe, eclectic shops, and unique galleries. It's an excellent spot for a leisurely walk, visiting artisan shops, and enjoying the quaint, peaceful atmosphere. Saugerties (25-minute drive from Kingston): Saugerties is another cute small town on the west side of the river. Heading towards the Saugerties Lighthouse is a beautiful walk along the water on a nice day. We visited here on a trip for our second anniversary and loved Krause's Chocolates! Beacon (45-minute drive from Kingston): Right in between the city and Kingston, the Dia Beacon has incredible modern art and is well worth a stop on your drive up or down! Hudson (40-minute drive from Kingston): North of Kingston, Hudson is incredibly cute with more galleries and shops!

Hiking

WARNING: we haven't actually done these, do your own research if really looking for a challenging hike! Overlook Mountain Fire Tower (about 25 minutes from Kingston): This moderately challenging hike offers breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley. At the top, you’ll find the Overlook Mountain Fire Tower, which gives panoramic views. The hike is about 2.5 miles each way. Ashokan Reservoir (about 20 minutes from Kingston): The Ashokan Reservoir offers beautiful views and trails perfect for walking, biking, or just relaxing by the water. Kaaterskill Wild Forest & Waterfalls (about 40 minutes from Kingston): This forest area has a variety of lengths of hikes with the 260-ft Kaaterskill Falls being the standout thing to see.

Shops & Activities

Rough Draft Bar & Books: A hybrid coffee shop/bookstore/bar that is in the center of 'Uptown Kingston' The Kingston Design Showroom: This charming shop has a curated selection of antiques, home goods, and decor. Farmers Markets: Kingston has a year-round Farmers Market on Saturdays, and Woodstock has a market on Sundays. These markets are great for picking up fresh produce, artisan food, and unique gifts. Art Galleries: Kingston, Woodstock, and Hudson have vibrant art scenes with several galleries, like Woodstock Artists Association & Museum and Tara Gallery in Kingston, showcasing regional art.
