Ryan and i were both stationed in Yokosuka Japan. Countless times our paths might’ve crossed, but not until God’s perfect timing did we actually meet. October 13th, 2017 We met at a combined worship service for a church called The Lighthouse. Ryan was on the worship team for The Lighthouse and I was on the worship team for the Chapel of Hope. I had been to The Lighthouse only once before and I had seen Ryan worshiping. I remember thinking silently to myself and asking God for a man like that. A man who wasn’t afraid to stand in front of a crowd and worship to show the world his fire for God. Little did I know that God was way ahead of me. The night of the 13th after the service I knew I wanted to meet Ryan so I walked by hoping he would talk to me. He greeted me with a warm hello and we have spoken every day since then. Ryan quickly became my best friend. November 4, 2017 Ryan messaged me telling me to wear something maroon because we were going to find the best ramen shop in Japan. We met at the train station and as we embarked the train he asked me to continue our journey as his girlfriend, making this our first real date. I knew the day i met Ryan that i would marry him. I knew the day he asked me to be his girlfriend that i was already irrevocably in love with him. January 31st, 2018 we began our long distance chapter.
Ryan took me back to the place we first hung out one on one. It was the Red Brick Area in Yokohama Japan. We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe just like we did the first night we hung out together. He was nervous but I couldn’t really tell, he hardly touched his food. We color coordinated like we always did, red and black. After our dinner we went for a walk around the red brick area. I was oblivious and he was stalling so our friends could arrive at the red brick ice skating area to capture our special moment. We eventually made our way to the ice rink which is my home away from home. I was filled with pure excitement and Ryan was still nervous I figured it was because he had never been ice-skating before. Looking very much like Bambi with ice skates, Ryan had almost fallen a few times but at just the right spot that in front of our friends with cameras, he actually fell and stayed down on one knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen. He asked me to spend forever with him glorifying God as his wife and, I said yes!
