Joe and I stumbled upon each other on a dating app. We clicked instantly and had great conversations in those first few days. We agreed to meet on 4/4/18 at Quarter's Up arcade bar in Akron. We sat at the bar, picked out a couple IPAs, and ordered food. Then he asked me to go play pinball, pulled out a ziplock bag full of quarters, and grabbed for my hand. Have you ever felt a spark? Well, I sure did and my straw literally flew out of my drink! It was that exact moment I knew that Joe was who I was destined to be with forever. Fun Fact: we are now the proud owners of our very own pinball machine!

It was a pretty normal Saturday visit to the cottage in Deerfield....a quick day trip to check in on what was needed to be done in order to reopen to enjoy the warmer months, and take Molly for a hike. We walked down the street, through the woods, then arrived at the clearing with a view of Berlin Lake. This time of year the water is not at full height so we continued to walk through the muddy lake bed. Although it was a cold day, the sun was shining bright! I turned around for 5 seconds and when I looked back, Joe had one knee in the mud and a ring box in his hands. I made the rounds of phone calls and texts that afternoon to share the news. We then drove home, figuring we would retire to a lowkey evening. Unbeknownst to me, Joe had enlisted our families to surprise me again. We came home to a decorated house....balloons, streamers, cake, champagne, flowers, gifts....it was beyond magical and I was so overwhelmed with love the whole day! I learned later that Joe had picked the day he wanted to propose months in advance. I am a tough person to surprise and he pulled it off, twice...impressive!
