Just minutes after saying “yes” at Mallory Square — a moment of pure joy captured by kind strangers we met in Key West.
The year was 2019 and like any other single millenial who recently graduated college, Corey and Shelby were on the dating apps. They matched on Hinge, exchanged phone numbers, and texted back and forth for a while. Corey says Shelby stopped responding to him, Shelby says Corey stopped responding to her. They'll probably never come to an agreement on who actually stopped responding but that doesn't matter. They went their separate ways for the next few years then 2021 rolled around. Both back on the apps the universe knew they were supposed to meet. The two matched (again). Corey still had Shelby's old phone number saved from 2019. It was a Thursday night, May 20th to be exact, when the two finally met at The Dawson in River West. Nervous beyond belief, Shelby didn't stop talking (shocker) while Corey fought for his life to get a word in. The two bonded over their love of baseball, similar childhoods growing up in Northwest Indiana and discovered they probably crossed paths at Riverside Park during Corey's travel baseball days and again at The Upstairs Pub in Bloomington while in college. What began as a simple connection quickly grew into a love full of laughter and joy made official on June 4, 2021. From that day forward, they were inseparable, hearts and lives entwined as their journey together began.
