With Derrick and I’s Christmas season being planned down to the minute, I was certain it was going to happen on Christmas morning. With that being our only time together alone the whole weekend, wouldn’t that be the time? Well- I was WRONG! I needed to run to the house to pick up Derrick to go to dinner with his family for Christmas Eve dinner. He told me to come by anytime between 3 and 4. I recieved a call around 3pm asking where I was... to which I promptly responded “Im still getting ready! Ill get there when I get there!!” ...oops! I showed up at 3:30 to the house warm & festive. Derrick had lit the fireplace, and turned on the Christmas Tree & Christmas music. With about 20 minutes to spare before we needed to leave for dinner, we slow danced to our favorite Christmas songs and got ready to go. I turned around to shut off the tree, and when I turned back.. there was Derrick on one knee! It was so sweet and unexpected, I cried and cried and said “RRREEALLLYYY???” :) We had dinner with his family and spent the rest of the evening with the Staley clan at the annual Christmas Eve party. It was a wonderful evening full of love. - Tessa
