We met at Brainerd International Raceway, at the Lakes Jam music festival. I was working for Monster Energy and he was there with his friends. My friend Allie knows Jordan, and his friends, so we walked over to see them. The first time I ever saw Jordan, he was on a fly-board, in the middle of a tiny, maybe 3 foot pond, in a lightning storm, while his friend, David, was riding around him on a SNOWMOBILE, IN THE WATER!! and his other friend Brennon was sitting on a jetski, running the fly-board. The first words that came out of my mouth were “Who’s child is that?! Someone get them down!!’ He eventually came down from the lightning death trap, put on a kitten shirt that said “Hug Life” and we started chatting. We hung out a couple times over the next few weeks, we quickly became best friends and started hanging out pretty much everyday, then eventually something changed and we decided to start dating.
One weekend we were up at the Fischer cabin and Jord and I had fallen asleep on the bottom bunk, in the basement. That morning, I didn’t want to disturb anyone else, we had all piled into one room, so I laid there with my eyes closed. Jordan woke up, quietly leaned over, kissed me on the forehead, and whispered “I love you.” I didn’t wake up, I continued to pretend to be asleep because well, lets face it, I got a little panicky and didn’t know what to do. That was the first time he ever told me he loved me. Don’t worry everyone, he eventually said it while I was awake a few weeks later, and I didn’t panic, I told him I loved him too.
Jordan and I had a weird proposal situation, we had the venue booked before the real ring was finished being made. I had a fake ring, most of our wedding was booked, and planned, it was all over the place, and like most things we do, it was pretty backwards. We were doing a mini photo session for our Christmas cards. On the way there I had asked if he had heard anything about the ring, when it would be done, etc. He told me he hadn’t heard anything. We get to the park, start taking our pictures and this little turd says he needs to go get his jacket because he was freezing, our photographer asked me if I needed mine too and I laughed and said, “No, I’m not a wussy.” He comes back, our photographer had us stand, hold hands, and turn to face each other. Meanwhile, Meika was trying to get squirrels, so I was trying to get her under control, telling her to sit. I look back over to Jordan and he is down on his knee. What do I do? I try to pull him up while saying, “What are you doing?! She told us to stand!” Took me a minute to figure out what was going on, he asked me to marry him and per usual, I just started asking 20 questions: “when did you get the ring, how, when did they finish it, how long did you have it, did you have to miss work to get it?” I turned to Kasey, our photographer, and pretty much shouted, “DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?!” Poor Jordan, the whole time I am asking a million questions, he is sitting with his knee in the snow and just asks again, “umm, babe, so do you want to marry me.” I collapsed to my knees and said, “Oh my gosh, OF COURSE, YES!” On our way home I found out that he had picked up the ring a few weeks earlier. I also found out that he brought my mother flowers and asked her for my hand, he had taken my brother out to lunch, to ask him for my hand. And he had reached out to our amazing photographer and they had planned the whole thing. My heart was so happy and so full.
