Flight

50 Km from Milan Malpensa Airport

Please Book flights early since July is peak travel season. From the airport, you can take a train, private transfer, or rent a car to reach Lake Como. Taxis and ride-sharing apps like Uber operate at airports, but prices can be higher. (Please inquire with your hotel).

Train

Como S.Giovanni railway station is 1 km from the centre

Italy’s rail network makes train travel easy and scenic. The closest station is Como San Giovanni, a short walk or taxi ride to the lakefront. From Milan: Trenord regional trains from Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni (35–60 minutes). Express trains are quicker so we advice you to require incase you need advance booking. From Other Cities: Connect through Milano Centrale for the best options to Como. Tips: Purchase tickets in advance online (Trenitalia or Trainline) to secure seats. Validate tickets at the station before boarding. Trains can get crowded in summer, so arrive early.

Rental Car

rent a car

Please make sure you book your car rental prior if you are deciding to drive. We advice to use the following ones www.qeeq.com and www.rentalcars.com (please opt for full insurance). Car rental is also available at the airport, however cars are first come first serve. From Milan: It’s about a 1-hour drive (50 km/31 miles) via the A9 motorway. Parking: Limited in towns like Bellagio and Varenna. Use paid parking lots near ferry terminals or in larger towns. Roads are narrow and winding, especially near the lake. Drive cautiously! Tips: If you’re renting a car, opt for a smaller vehicle to navigate narrow roads easily. Ensure you have an international driver’s licence if required. Look for “ZTL” signs (limited traffic zones) to avoid fines in historic town centres.

Hotel

Albergo Terminus

14 Lungo Lario Trieste, Como, Lombardia 22100, Italy

Built in 1900 on the lakefront drive called the Lungo Lario di Levante, now the Lungo Lario Trieste, by the architect Italo Zanolini. Its name, Terminus, conserves its original function as the thermal spa of the nearby Grand Hotel Plinius. The structure also has the distinction of being built to celebrate the centennial of the first electric battery, invented by Como native Alessandro Volta. But it was in the 1940s that this beautiful hotel with its classic elegance and understated luxury, so typical of the Como aristocracy, became part of the Passera family, so to speak. And even if in recent times the hotel has been completely renovated, and the rooms are constantly ‘refreshed’ with ever more elegant and comfortable new furnishings, the magical atmosphere and style of those years remain perfectly intact.
