Caleb was a freshman and Chelsea was a junior at Cleveland High. They first met at band camp in August of 2011. Chelsea caught Caleb's eye almost from the start as she was the section leader for the high brass; she played French horn and he played trumpet. He was too nervous to approach her at first; as he was unsure of what her answer would be since she was two grades ahead of him. He finally mustered up some courage and asked her a few weeks into the school year. She originally said yes, then changed her mind a few days later. He was younger than she and she wanted to focus on school and being a leader in the band. Caleb held his disappointment in and they finished out the band season. They would soon go their separate ways as Chelsea did not do band her senior year. Two and a half years later... Chelsea was attending Meredith College and working at McCalls BBQ & Seafood part-time. She went in for a shift after her classes and lo and behold, there was Caleb Rudisill starting his first day of training. They were cordial with one another as they would be working in Take-Out together. A few days passed and Caleb walked up to Chelsea's twin, Ciara, as she too worked at McCall's. He once again got up the courage to talk to Chelsea, but first needed her phone number and Ciara was happy to provide. Caleb sent Chelsea a text when he got home opening up with a joke and something interesting that happened on his drive home. For the next few weeks, they proceeded to go on dates to Cookout for burgers and onion rings with honey mustard of course! He finally asked her to be his girlfriend on May 23, 2014.
After 9 years of college, first jobs, new certifications, and promotions, Chelsea and Caleb looked at each other and decided it was time to FINALLY get married as things started to slow down and fall into place. They began planning the wedding in February 2023. Fast forward to June 11, 2023, it was time to take photos for Save the Date mailers as Chelsea and Caleb had not had photos taken in a while. Caleb's Mom, Mary, and oldest sister, Caitlyn, were enlisted in taking the photos. Unbeknownst to Chelsea, Caleb had a ring in his pocket to surprise her. Mary distracted Chelsea by previewing a few photos while Caleb got down on one knee behind her. When Chelsea turned around to continue taking photos, she saw Caleb had gotten down on one knee with a little red box containing a ring in his hand. This little red box was more than just a box though, it was made to look like a giant Lego piece, which is one of their favorite pastimes. She said YES and they continued planning their dream wedding.
