How It All Began @ His Side

It was a December evening in 2018. I had just moved to the United States that same month, still carrying the weight of my departure from Haiti. A friend invited me to Église de Dieu Tabernacle du Seigneur, not knowing that my life was about to change forever. That’s when I first saw her — Emmanuela Pierre. She stood before the youth class, passionately teaching Sunday school. Her gaze was steady, her voice confident, and there was a gentle yet undeniable authority in the way she spoke. Months later, after Covid-19, I began attending more regularly. In 2021, I had a revelation from God — a vision of us serving side by side in ministry. At the time, I thought it meant I was being called to join the youth committee. I didn’t yet realize it was also the beginning of a deeper path with her. She was serious, focused, and, to me, a little intimidating. But serving together on the youth committee brought us closer. At first, our conversations stayed professional, but eventually I asked if we could be friends. She agreed, though in my heart, I knew I hoped for more. I prayed, fasted, and sought God’s will. Until one week, my emotions could no longer be contained. I decided to tell her my feelings right after she finished preaching — before my nerves could stop me. That day, my heart was pounding. Later, after her own time of prayer and reflection, she said yes. Since then, her smile has been my favorite sunrise. Her voice, even in simple conversations, is a melody that brings peace to my days. Her presence lights my path and reminds me that I’m no longer walking alone. Through her laughter, her kindness, and her strength, she has become the one I want to build every chapter of my life with… and today, our forever begins.

When I First Saw Him @ Her Side

The first time I saw Ruddy was on a December Sunday morning. He walked quietly into the Sunday school class I was teaching and sat, listening intently. In that moment, I wondered if we could understand each other — I barely spoke French, and my Creole carried an English Creole accent. Without hesitation, I switched to teaching bilingually to make sure both he and his twin brother felt included. Soon after, the twins moved to another Sunday school class, and our interactions stopped — until 2020, when church went virtual. As Vice President of the youth ministry, I was asked to contact one of them to preach for Youth Sunday. I thought I was texting Hendy, but it turned out to be Ruddy. He graciously corrected me and accepted. When church reopened, both twins joined the youth ministry. We began working together, unknowingly building chemistry. Then came May 2021, when the young men surprised the ladies with a dinner. As I stepped out of the van, Ruddy offered me his hand, then locked arms for a photo. Later, he did it again — and that’s when I started to wonder if his attention was more personal. For the next couple of years, we served in ministry together, speaking only when it was youth-related. Ruddy later joined another ministry I was in as my co-assistant. Looking back, I can see how God was quietly knitting us together — not only as ministry partners, but as something more. In December 2023, he asked if we could be friends. I agreed, and over time, our friendship deepened. Then, in October 2024, after I preached a sermon, he asked to speak privately and shared his feelings with sincerity and respect. By 2025, after many prayers and seeking God’s confirmation, I said yes. It was the start of a journey where we would walk side by side — just as God placed Eve next to Adam, Rebekah next to Isaac, and Ruth next to Boaz. In His perfect timing, our forever began.
