Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Ruby Sedas Robert and Connor Hayward
Veracruz was the first landing spot and town when the Spanish came to Mexico. As a result, it has a long history from pirates to the birthplace of the Mexican constitution. The old city center is full of collonial style buildings, and the main square is ringed by many bars and restaurants. The rest of the city, comprised of Boca Del Rio and Alvarado has a wide range of malls, cinemas, bars, clubs and places to eat. Bring an outfit in a size up, the sea food is delicious! While there is lots to see and do in Veracruz, here are a few of our favorites!
San Juan de Ulúa

San Juan de Ulúa

S/N Camino Escénico a San Juan de Ulúa, Veracruz, Ver. 91891, Mexico

Originally built to keep the Brits out, why not take a look at one of the oldest buildings in Veracruz! Built from coral to defend the port, it then became a prison and is now a museum to Veracruz's maritime history. WARNING: They really knew how to slow down the British, it gets VERY warm and humid. Pack a hat and sunscreen.

Mexico Naval Museum

Mexico Naval Museum

418 Calle Mariano Arista, Veracruz, Ver. 91700, Mexico

Given it's history as a port town, it is no surprise that Veracruz sports a Naval Museum. Telling the story of the development of the Mexican Navy and the port itself, a large part centers on Veracruz's involvement in Mexico's struggle for independance.

Acuario de Veracruz

Acuario de Veracruz

S/n Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho, Veracruz, Ver. 91900, Mexico

Right by the beach is Mexico's largest aquarium by water volume (thank you Google for that fact). It has large shark tank, with sharks rasied in a nearby nursey off the coast of one of the islands you can see in the bay, as well as a very large variaty of tropical fish, dolphins, penguins and so. WARNING: at the end of the aquarium is a manitee. While he seems harmless, he has an unusual diet, I wouldn't watch for too long.

Andamar Lifestyle Center

4300 Boulevard Adolfo Ruíz Cortines, Veracruz, Ver. 94298, Mexico

I don't know how, but I always seem to end up here. The most central, and newest mall, with lots of good food and a sea view.

Boat Tour of the Coral Reefs

Boat Tour of the Coral Reefs

The waters around Veracruz are protected by law as they feature a large coral reef. It is possible to hire a boat to visit them and go snorkaling around. Let us know if you would be interested.

Museo Bola de Oro Finca Roma

Museo Bola de Oro Finca Roma

Mexico

Veracruz is famous for its cafes (La Parroquia is a must try!) and coffee, with a long history of growing the crop. If you have ever wondered where the coffee in your cup comes from, this is the place for you. They offer a tour of the farm as well as a guided tasting of some of their coffee. In near by Coatepec/Xico there are some amazing places to eat as well! Its a little over an hour away by car, we can help organize a trip for anyone interested.

Jalcomulco Rafting and Roca Partida Hikes

Jalcomulco Rafting and Roca Partida Hikes

Mexico

Around Veracruz there are also famous places for rafting such as Jalcomulco, if you're the adventure type (Germans) we could also organize a hike around the Roca Partida area. Both are around 1-2 hour away from the city. For any one interested please feel free to reach out and see what we can organize!
