It all started in the year 2000 in a little town called North Dallas. I played soccer, played piano, had a soft and sensitive side and secretly owned the movie "10 Things I Hate About You", liked math and science, and was quiet. She danced, liked horror movies, had pink, blue, green, red hair, with facial piercings, and was definitely not quiet. So we thought - let's be honest, it didn't make sense, the end. WAIT that's not how it happened Mark! Lets fast forward to 2015. We met at church through their co-ed indoor soccer league we were both involved in. We didn't become instant friends but over time this man's soccer skills made my head spin, and his constant positive attitude was captivating. My no nonsense, pink sock wearing, latin spice captivated him. Didn't take long for us to form a strong bond, and friendship. We spent SO MUCH time together during and after soccer that our teammates and friends thought we were already dating. So we thought (for real this time) let's give this dating a friend thing a try! Soooo almost two years later of friendship we finally did start dating. Took SOMMMMEONE awhile to finally ask me out. It was worth the WAIT. It hasn't always been sunshine, rainbows, and lolly pops in our relationship but I can NOT imagine spending the rest of my life with out him. I guess its true what they say ... you want a wonderful wife or husband, marry your best friend! TOGETHER UNTIL THE REAL END.
It was a warm and sunny day, and we were making our bi-weekly drive to the store to pick up necessities. We also planned to have a romantic evening dinner on the dock, and so obviously Rubi demanded things be done a certain way. Well, I had other plans, and did not cater to her demands. Needless to say, she fell quiet with anger. See, I had gotten the ring, received wonderful help from my parents to pick up an oyster and salmon platter (don't worry, their effort was much rewarded - I got them oysters and a platter too!), and discussed how to make a wonderful romantic picnic dinner with a blanket, wine, candles, salmon, oysters, and a sunset. Well, as the sun set and we enjoyed the peaceful evening and delicious seafood, I got down on one knee, proposed, and the rest is history to be told - "Hey, remember that time I proposed during the year of Covid?"
