Ruben and Andrea met at the Unity Hall dorms at UTRGV. As a summer camp counselor, Andrea ran into Ruben in the elevator as he was organizing his floor as a resident assistant. He wore a pair of checkered vans and saw that Andrea's co-counselor also had a pair. He looked at Andrea and said, "Where are your checkered Vans?" A couple of months later, as our friend groups hung out, they started enjoying each other's company more and more. After ping-pong tournaments, Monopoly nights, and sweet treat runs, Ruben asked Andrea to their first date to the Patio on Guerra, followed by ice skating at Frio Grande Valley on the date September 15th, 2018. From trips to New York, California, Montana, and many more, a lifetime of experiences has led us to this day and will continue to guide us in our journey of life together. What started as a short meeting in the elevator turned into the wedding we have today. Below is the picture from our first date, where Ruben also officially asked Andrea to be his girlfriend!
