Nevada City Downtown Historic District
An 1800s Gold Rush gem, Nevada City’s Historic District is filled with Victorian charm, surrounded by Sierra foothills and famous fall colors. Nevada City has great selection of restaurants and bars on the main strip, ranging from old timey and divey to more upscale. Petra is one of our favs for food!
South Yuba River State Park
Take a dip in the yuba river (home to many swimming spots) pre or post celebration! The Buttermilk Bend Trail is an easy going 2.1 mile out and back that takes you right along crystal clear yuba river
Deer Creek Tribute Trail
Peep the fall foliage from Deer Creek Tribute Trail (3.4 mi), which starts downtown Nevada City. Stop for a cocktail at Golden Era or a coffee or hot chocolate at Java John’s post hiking adventure!
Empire Mine State Historic Park
For the history buffs - the Empire Mine was one of the largest and deepest gold mines in California. Tour a Gold Rush mansion then go underground.
Lake Tahoe (Sand Harbor State Park)
Jack & I's favorite place in CA! If staying a few days, highly recommend renting a car and heading up to North Lake Tahoe! We recommend walking East Short trail for scenic views of Lake Tahoe ending at Sand Harbor State Park. Worth the drive!!!
