We met at work. Roy was the guy that helped get MVG (the afterschool program I founded) off the ground and he would come by at least once a week to make sure things were running smoothly. While Roy seemed to be a no nonsense kind of guy he would occasionally chat with me and once on the pretense of a "bet" he asked me out for drinks. As time went on and more bets came to be we started getting closer. One day, Roy confessed that he wanted to be more than just friends. Silly and scared me, I turned him down and our budding relationship ended in a blink. While I was sad, I originally thought no biggie. I've made other friends, I'll just hang out with them. As days passed, I started to really miss Roy. In a way, that I had never missed "just a friend" before. I was upset that he hadn't reached out to me; did he not miss me?! Days kept going and still no word from Roy so I had no choice but to reach out to him. I text Roy and asked: "free this weekend?" he responded "yea". After a couple of minutes of hoping he'd ask why or anything at all that would give me an indication that he wanted to see me, to no avail, I asked him: "wanna hang out?" To which he responded: "yes but not just as friends". That weekend we went out and the rest is our history.
