Below are our favorite places to hang out, see a show, or eat in Austin.  If you are staying a little longer, take a trip out to Fredericksburg or Waco (we've included recommendations for both below the Austin ones).

Such a great local music venue!  Catch Austin greats such as Casper Rawls (played with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buck Owens), Whitney Rose, and Dale Watson.  Total dive bar with a lot of history. Note: 21 and over only.

The Continental Club

Absolutely the best pizza in Central Texas!  In traditionally weird South Congress district.  Lots of shopping and other restaurants and bars around.

Terry Black's Barbecue

You can see the bats on your own at the Congress Ave bridge every night at sundown, but I love going on the boat tours instead.  You get closer and they have red spotlights that help you see them better (the lights don't disturb the bats).

LOVE these tacos!  Drew's fave is the chicken fajita, Jake's fave is the green chile pork, Jack's fave is the Brushfire, and of course I love the queso!  AND, you can get them delivered!
