How we met!

Haley's Version: Like any classic Gen Z love story, we met through social media, specifically TikTok. In 2022, Jay had quite the following for his fitness and college content, which happened to land on my feed. I went through his profile and made it my mission to make him mine. I reached out to him, and we planned to go to the gym together just as two friends who enjoy lifting. That day turned into our first date, and our love story started. Unfortunately, I met him during the last week of school, which meant he was going back to Washington for four months. We texted every day, and when August rolled around, I helped him move back onto campus. Since that day, we've been attached at the hip and have been each other's number 1 supporters. Whether it be our faith, nursing school, fitness, work, or starting new chapters in our lives, I know that I have found the perfect partner in life. Jay's Version: Freshman year of college, I was consistently posting fitness content on social media. One specific video I posted was of me getting my post-workout smoothie without my "5'3 curly-haired gym rat girlfriend," to which Haley commented something along the lines of "5'2 here". I liked and replied to her comment unknowingly. A few days later, she followed me on Instagram, and apparently, I followed her back. From there, she decided it was time to make a move, and she messaged me that we should get a workout in together. Checking her profile, I see she had "GCU" in her bio, so I thought she knew me from either the gym, class, or something along those lines. Upon discussing what gym we would go to, she mentions she doesn't go to GCU, but that was her old college's abbreviation, "Georgian Court University". So, I had already told some girl I would work out with her, and we decided we would go off campus to a local gym. The workout was fine, we wore matching pit vipers and trained chest. As the night went on, I gave her a personal tour around GCU, took her to dinner at Panda Express, and held her hand (this was big for me). She came back to GCU two days later to help me scrub skateboard marks off my walls before I flew back home to Washington for the summer, and that is something that sticks with me today. Over the summer, Haley committed to GCU and decided that she would also live on campus. Flash forward to the beginning of school, Haley and I spent just about every day together. In late October, we went to a concert together, and that's when she and I started dating. The forever part happened a few years later, after consistently seeing her love for the Lord, how great a wife, and how amazing a mother she is going to be. Although our story isn't the "normal" story, it's our story, which makes it perfect.
