This Wild and Crazy Ride

While most have heard the story, here it goes again...

We met through a mutual friend at none other than a softball tournament. Who would have thought? Now, to be honest, I didn't really think much of it because I meet a ton of people on the field. While we hung out again later that summer we were friends. Later that year in 2017 Bobby would have a heart attack that would change how the course of this story goes. He will tell you I was so sweet to him reaching out while I was away on vacation in Italy. I simply couldn't wrap my head around someone I had met and hung out with having a heart attack. After that moment we messaged during the time I was on my trip and then nothing. HAHA The next time that I would see Bobby would be for nationals that following year and we spent as much time as 2 people could without ever really having a romantic interest. We would hang out at my house and play movie trivia. For those who know Bobby is the movie trivia KING! Yet the first time we ever played I BEAT HIM!!! I think from that summer he already knew I was someone special for him but so did I. Like all things summer ends and we go back to our normal lives and go on. Once again nothing until May where I messaged him about working a tournament and he switched where he was working to be at the same tournament as me. This is where the real story begins... Now I suggested that we go to dinner on Friday night and so we met up at my hotel. For me 100% a date, for him 2 friends just hanging out. We go to a family style sea food restaurant and we are eating dinner on the beach. We go for a walk at sunset, holding hands (TOTALLY A DATE) and I lean in close but nothing happens HAHA. I feel super awkward and he says "Hey don't worry its not like I'm going to kiss you!" Well there went that. The rest of the night goes smooth we talk for hours and have fun. The next time I invite him to dinner again and this time finally after we get out of the car he kisses me, my response "Well that was a day late..." And that is how our story began...

His Version...

We met at a tournament in Colorado through mutual friends. She had purple hair and tattoos everywhere, not my usual type. But I wanted to be around her. We became casual friends, and a few months later, myocardial infarction/emergency open heart surgery. She WAS so sweet to reach out to some random guy she met while he was in recovery. We messaged one another on occasion, and then saw each other again the following summer at softball events. We hung out in a group mostly, but we always seemed to end up sitting or standing near the other. To my friends, it was evident that I had a crush, but I would not have acted on it. She’s a young, beautiful, amazing woman. I was much older, and didn’t seem to be her type either. That summer hanging out was so much fun (except when she beat me in movie trivia), but we eventually had to get back to our everyday lives. We didn’t talk much over the winter, but in the spring she said she was coming up for a tournament in NorCal. I switched over to her event, and we had dinner. She swears it was a date, but I had no idea she would even think of me in a romantic way. As always, great conversation, a walk on the beach at sunset, and I chickened out of trying to kiss her. The following night, I got up the courage and kissed her, and that’s how we started on this path together…
