Our first road trip together was to San Francisco during Christmas time. We stayed at The Fairmont Hotel, taking in the city’s holiday energy, exploring, and just enjoying being together. Somewhere between the twinkling lights, late-night walks, and laughter, we fell in love. Now, we’re coming back—not just as visitors, but to get married in the very place where our love story truly began. It feels like a full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
As we made our way across the country on our road trip, one of our most special stops was Rusty Bucket Acres, Ross’s mom’s animal sanctuary. We were there to visit her and ring in the New Year. Throughout our trip, we had passed so many frozen ponds, each one making me sigh and dream out loud about how much I’d always wanted to skate on one. Little did I know, Ross was quietly planning the perfect moment. When we arrived at Rusty Bucket Acres, right in front of the house was the perfect little pond—small, untouched, and glistening. But I didn’t have any skates. Without me knowing, Ross had secretly ordered a pair just for me, and when he pulled them out, my heart melted. Excited and a little nervous, we laced up and stepped onto the ice together for the first time, laughing as we found our balance, hands clasped, the cold air turning our breath to mist. At one point, Ross smiled and asked me to skate to the far end of the pond and then back to him. I didn’t think much of it, just enjoying the moment. But when I turned around to skate back, there he was—right in the middle of the pond, down on one knee. My breath caught as everything around us seemed to disappear. With a nervous smile and eyes full of love, he asked me to marry him. In that perfect, quiet moment, with the world standing still around us, I said yes.
