Sally was working a second job on the weekends at a diner in her old neighborhood of Rockaway Beach in Queens. Joe worked next door and would come in every day for a cup of tea. Eventually, Joe would come in for multiple cups of tea in one day, and eventually Sally made a bet with him so that he would have to owe her a drink, and have to give her his phone number. They met up in Manhattan shortly after, and the rest is history!
After a busy Saturday of visiting friends in Manhattan, meeting up with Joe in Brooklyn, and heading to another friend's party in Staten Island, Sally would usually be exhausted and collapse right into bed upon walking in the house (her bedtime is approximately 10pm, after all.) Instead, this Saturday night, she decided to change into sweats and join Joe on the couch where they sat and talked for hours into the night and the topic of getting engaged came up. Joe asked "if he ever were to do such a thing," how would she want it to be done? Sally looked around and told him that this would be the perfect setting, just the two of them comfortable at home. Little did she know he had the ring on him this entire time, and before she knew it he was on one knee in front of the couch! By then they were both way too excited to sleep and celebrated over a 4:30am breakfast at a nearby diner.
