I have known Abby for some 27 years—almost our whole lives—and have been lucky enough to call her my best friend for nearly all of them. We have seen each other through tragedy and hilarity, calm, chaos, the mundane—and, of course, relationships. Though I have not known Steve for nearly as long, the time I have spent with the two of them has shown me what a wonderful, caring and charismatic person he is—and how deeply he loves my friend. Now, I get to witness my dear friend marry her chosen partner, and I am overjoyed to share in their newest milestone.

A close friend of Steve’s since the summer of 2014, when we were roommates at TFA’s summer teaching institute. Through the years we have taught, traveled, and grew into adulthood together, and shared many meaningful moments in each others’ lives.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Abby since high school, and it’s been a joy watching her and Steve’s relationship flourish. Being their honorary roommate was such an honor, and I’m beyond excited to be a part of the I Do Crew!

Stephen's brother Even numbered sons in the Ellis family have to stick together! That means both living in the Midwest, watching college football games in Ann Arbor, and talking about The Cosmere. I am proud to be in the crew and happy to celebrate my brother as he takes this next step (Swears the 1st Ideal!).

I'm Matthew, son of John, brother of Steve.

I'm Abby's ex-manager, current friend and fellow tea-drinker. Unbelievably grateful to have met this girl during her time in Bristol ❤️

I am Steve’s older brother and dad to Steve’s niece and nephew (a/k/a the junior members of the ‘I Do Crew’). I've known Steve his whole life (even dating back to when he was simply known as ‘Stephen’) and know Steve as - among other things - an enthusiastic Seahawks fan and a perhaps over-enthusiastic board game player. I couldn’t be more excited to see Steve tie the knot and move into this exciting next phase!

I have been giggling over very silly things with Abby since high school, has been chortling with Steve for what feels almost as long, and is so very happy to be their friend.

Abby and I have been friends for over 15 years, which feels fully wild and is such an enormous gift. We've stayed friends across continents for the better part of that time, which is hard because Abby's someone I wish I could talk to for hours every day. I'm endlessly grateful, though that our friendship so naturally bridges that space and time. I wish so deeply that I could be there in person to celebrate Abby and Steve, for what I know will be a day overflowing with love. Luckily no amount of transphobia can keep me from sending all of my love and support across the ocean on their big day.
