We met on the popular dating app Hinge. We were immediately drawn to each other over our shared love for ‘The Office’ and carrying out full conversations using movie quotes. Little did we know, we lived only less than a mile apart and had several acquaintances and coincidences that connected us far before we ever met. We started dating 5/5/2019, aka Cinco De Mayo, the best anniversary date ever!
One of our very first dates together was at Grey Ghost in Detroit. Since then it has always held a special place in our hearts, not to mention their cocktails are divine! We often would treat ourselves to dinner there by making reservations a few weeks ahead of time and having it to look forward to for a fun night out. Alex planned a casual, nothing out of the ordinary dinner reservation for us to attend. Nothing seemed off that entire day. We had dinner and a few drinks and decided to leave and grab another drink down the street before heading home. Grey Ghost has an adorable outside patio area and as we walked alongside it, Alex pulled me back and when I turned around he was down on one knee. This would surprise anyone, except for the fact that Alex had been faking proposals at random times throughout that year. Hilarious right?!….not. I told him to stop and get up and that I was so embarrassed, but this time it was the REAL DEAL. He proposed and of course I said yes and the entire patio and the patio across the street cheered us on and congratulated us. Following the proposal Alex drove us to Downey’s Brewery where he had planned a surprise engagement party with our family and friends there all waiting for us to celebrate. The proposal and night was absolutely perfect!
