We met through an online app in November 2020 while Ross was living in Austin and Scott was working remotely in the city. Scott messaged Ross first and Ross left him on “read” for 6 weeks. However, on Scott’s second trip back to Austin, Ross’s delayed “hey” led to a pandemic safe meeting in-person followed by hours of texting and FaceTime over the next few months. Eventually, Scott came back to Austin in March of 2021 where we had our official first date at Matt’s El Rancho. During that dinner, we planned a trip to Portland, Oregon for a few weeks later. After planning and enjoying that vacation, we realized we were travel partners for life.

Ross and Scott went to Costa Rica in August of 2022 as a delayed birthday trip for Scott. After a day of hiking, we came back to our hotel and laid out by the pool before getting ready for dinner. Ross had pre planned a private dinner in the room and needed to buy some time for the staff to get it all set up. Luckily, our hotel offered a “frog walk” through the rain forest surrounding the hotel. We spent a half hour spotting all types of frogs with flashlights in the jungle and had worked up quite an appetite. When we returned, Ross stalled a few more minutes by going to the rest room to review his notes. Scott took this time to get a table at the hotel restaurant. As Ross returned, he faked a “forgotten item” in the room and made Scott come with him. When we opened the door, there was a candlelit dinner, vase of flowers and a bottle of wine on ice. Under the guise of an intimate birthday dinner, we dined, laughed and enjoyed each others company. When it came time for dessert, Ross asked if Scott was ready for his present. Scott excitedly said yes and Ross went to his suitcase and pulled out a card. As Scott read through the card, he realized there was one last question. Ross got down on one knee and popped the question!
