Bear Valley Lodge
If you're not staying at the Bear Valley Lodge, it's a must-see stop. This has been the beating heart of the town for generations and has been host to many memories for our friends and family. Inside you'll find a coffee shop, general store, Sky High Pizza & Bar, and Creekside Restaurant. Make sure to walk through the Cathedral Lounge and look at all the framed historic photos of the area.
Bloods Point
The place we got engaged! This is a quick (but steep) hike with beautiful views of Bear Valley. Make your way up Avalanche Road until the road dead-ends into a roundabout, trail entrance across from the cabins.
Lake Alpine
Lake Alpine is a quick 10-minute drive up Highway 4 from the Bear Valley Lodge. We love to walk the trails around the lake or rent a tube from the BV gas station and float with your beverage of choice.
Lake Alpine Lodge
Stop at the Lake Alpine Lodge for a bite to eat and one of their stacked Bloody Marys.
Inspiration Point
Relatively easy up-and-back hike on the South side of Lake Alpine. Perfect for a quick 2-hour strike mission with beautiful views of the Stanislaus wilderness.
Mosquito Lake
Just beyond Lake Alpine on Highway 4, near the top of Ebbett's Pass, you'll run alongside Mosquito Lake. Don't be daunted by the name, this is a picturesque alpine lake surrounded by walking trails and historic pioneer era cabins.
Frolf Course: Rick's Revenge
This is a PDGA-recognized Frolf Course named after long-standing Sheriff Rick Stevens. Stop by the gas station for a course map, discs, and a few beverages to start your round.
Bear Valley Music Festival
The opening weekend of the Bear Valley Music Festival is this weekend! This festival has been running since the 1960s and is a staple event in town. For those coming in early or staying through Sunday, be sure to check their website for line-ups, times, and tickets.
Lube Room Saloon
A favorite watering hole for family & friends. The Lube Room Saloon is a fun, no-frills biker bar directly off of Highway 4 on your way to Bear Valley. Great food, drinks, and mountain vibe. Leave the Birkenstocks in your car.
Visit Murphys
You'll pass through Murphys on your way up the hill to Bear Valley. This is a classic California foothills town dripping with history and more charming shops than you can shake a stick at. Throw a rock downtown and you'll hit 3 tasting rooms, a brewery, and a gold-rush era ice cream shoppe.
