We first met in 2015 in Knoxville, TN competing against each other in our respective collegiate a cappella groups. Reid was at Texas A&M and Ross at Baylor, and there were mutual friends between the groups. So we cheered each other on. Fast forward three years. We had followed one another on social media but never really talked. Reid messaged Ross on Instagram inviting him to come listen and "offer feedback" for a post-collegiate group he was singing in... little did Ross know it was all a ploy to try and find out whose team he batted for. 😂 We exchanged numbers and went on our first date a couple of months later—August 9, 2018 at Ninfa's in Waco. A few weeks after, we became "official" on August 24. We dated long-distance while Ross finished his graduate degree in Waco and Reid worked full-time in Houston. When Ross began interviewing at his current church, he and Reid discussed what moving to Austin would look like. Ross landed the job, and Reid moved into their first apartment in north Austin in February of 2020—a few weeks before the COVID pandemic. We went from a year-and-a-half of long-distance dating to quarantining together. Ross finished his master's degree, we moved to Round Rock, Reid completed his CPA, and we moved to southeast Austin where we now live with our two precious dogs, Phoebe and Finley. Having now been together for 7+ years, we've built a wonderful life. But we're so excited to make this public commitment with people who know and love us as we embark on the lifetime ahead of us.
