Ross and I met as many millennials do these days...online. We decided to meet at a restaurant, Beast and Barrel, for dinner and we shared a bottle of white wine. While on our date, we had fluid and fun conversation, and his sense of humor matched mine completely. After dinner, he invited me to watch a Badger's basketball game at his apartment (though admittedly I had no idea who the Badgers were then, I went anyways to watch a basketball team I knew nothing about because he was so dang cute). Two years ago in Chattanooga there had been a terrible drought and wildfires were raging in several parts of the city and surrounding areas. The smell of dense smoke filled the air for weeks, so much so that you could smell smoke in your home, on your clothes, and in your car. It was inescapable, and very uncomfortable. However, the night of Ross and I's first date, as we watched the Badger's play basketball in his apartment, it began to rain. The first rain in months! Ross and I ran outside (in our nice date clothes) and shared our first kissed in the rain. It was a new beginning, and I was a smitten kitten. We have been together ever since.
