The nearest airport is San Jose International Airport, which is just over Highway 17. But San Francisco International Airport is not much farther! A rental car will be best for easiest/quickest travel to and around Santa Cruz.
There are LOTS of hotels and motels in Santa Cruz, as it is a tourist destination. Make sure to do some research when booking. There are some great but also not so great neighborhoods to stay in. You should easily be able to find something in your price range.
We recommend booking an AirBnb or VRBO, which fill up quick in the summer! If booking a hotel, we recommend the East Side of Santa Cruz and Capitola. Some hotel recommendations are listed below.
