It all started at Tommy’s Tavern in Sea Bright on Memorial Day weekend in 2021. Emily was waitressing that day and had an outdoor section when a rough storm came in. At that moment, Emily was thrilled because it meant she’d get cut early and could hang out with her friends for the holiday. Unfortunately for her, the manager had her go to the event room to take overflow tables and she became very annoyed! As the night went on, Emily was told she had a table of 14 coming in, and they were all around her age, which made the night better because most of them were really cool and fun — except for one person at that table: Ross. That’s right, you read it correctly. Ross was very sarcastic from the moment Emily met him. Ross wasn’t supposed to be there that night. He had planned to go to Belmar to hang out with his college friends, but thankfully, since it was storming, he ended up joining his friends from home while dragging Neter along. Everyone else at the table was super chill and fun, but Ross had other plans. He kept asking where his food and drinks were because "time is of the essence." Of course, that just made Emily pay more attention to him than the others, which she’s pretty sure was his game plan all along. Finally, as everyone was getting ready to pay their checks, Emily thanked them all and told them how sweet they were. Then, in front of everyone, she jokingly said, “Except for your friend Ross over there — he’s not so nice.” They all laughed, and booed him, that’s when Ross asked for her number. The banter won her over instantly because, in this crazy world, you’ve got to be able to joke around. He got her number (and yes, he left her over a 20% tip, which definitely helped his case!). They hung out the next day, and the rest is history! They are forever grateful for the organic way they met and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Over the past few years, they’ve traveled all over — from Florida and along the East Coast, to exploring the Mediterranean and United Kingdom. They’re looking forward to their honeymoon in Saint Martin and they can’t wait to continue this adventure together.
