Although, they officially met in the 10th grade in Mr. Walker's English class (Brittany was too good for Ross at the time, so she didn't talk to him much), Ross first spotted Brittany on the playground in 5th grade. Some say it was love at first sight. Fast forward toward the end of 11th grade, when Ross and Brittany crossed paths at the YMCA. At that moment they didn't say anything to each other (high school is awkward), but later that evening Ross mustered up the confidence to send her a facebook message. Despite the fact that she couldn't get those luscious, curly locks off of her mind, it took Brittany a few weeks to respond. Legend has it that Brittany says it's one of the best decisions she's ever made. As high school dates almost exclusively consist of seeing movies, Brittany agreed to a movie date with Ross and he purchased two tickets to 28 Weeks Later. About 28 minutes later they decided to be "boyfriend and girlfriend" (it was actually more like 180 minutes later) and the rest is history.
With the plan to propose in motion, Ross put together a getaway to Indian Creek, Utah for a weekend filled with desert sandstone crack climbing. On the way out to Utah, they were stopped by farmers moving their cattle down the road to a new pasture. They put the car in park and watched as hundreds of cows and their fuzzy calves trotted down the road, at which point Brittany blurted out "This is the best day of my life!"... Little did she know what was in store later in the day. After hours of torturous rock climbing, and as the desert sun was just beginning to set below the sand stone cliffs of Utah, Ross sat down next to Brittany and very timidly pulled the ring from his pocket. Before Ross could say a word Brittany yelled out "Ross, no! What is that?! Are you serious?!" Laughing about the fact that Ross didn't fully think through the condition of one's hands after a day of rock climbing, they placed the ring on Brittany's taped up, chalk-covered hand. After having a couple of fellow climbers take photos, Ross said, "So is that a 'Yes' then...? Because you never said 'yes'. You actually said 'No'." And the rest is history.
