~How we met~

We met on a dating app when we both swiped right in October of 2022. Our first date was on October 30 where we met up for dinner in downtown Plymouth. It is still debated who was giving who the googly eyes first during this first date.

The Engagement Story

"Oh my gosh, I have something funny to tell you!"

On Friday, June 2, 2023, Ross decided that day was the day. Ross had a half day of work and went over to Heather's house right after work. When Heather got off work later in the afternoon, she called Ross to see what the plan was for dinner and to see if she should pick something up on the way home. Ross firmly said, "No." Heather thought it was a little weird, but maybe Ross would be cooking something when she got home. But that was not the case. Ross was a little dressed up and said let's get sushi. Heather quickly got dressed and after a little discussion, they settled on going to Northville to get sushi, where they had their second date. Ross's plan for the engagement was to recreate their second date (where he fell madly in love with Heather). On the second date, Heather and Ross grabbed sushi and then starting walking around downtown Northville during an abnormally warm November evening. They sat on a bench right in downtown and sat there for hours on the second date. It was at this bench where Ross was planning to propose. Back to the night of the engagement, Heather and Ross had sushi, then started walking around downtown. Ross was doing pretty cool up until they reached their bench. Then some natural nerves started to set in. They sat down on the bench. Now a warm Friday evening in June was much more crowded with people compared to a November Friday evening. As soon as they sat down on the bench, Heather immediately turns to Ross and says, "Oh my gosh, I have something funny to tell you!" Up until this point, Heather really had no idea what this evening was going to be about, but then it immediately dawned on her. "What's so funny?" asked Ross. "Umm, nevermind." "What are you talking about? You just can't say, 'I have something funny to tell you,' and not just say it. Spit it out!" Heather hesitantly points to the outdoor seating area of a restaurant next to their bench, and says, "See that guy over there? I'm not entirely sure, but I think that's my ex-boyfriend over there." Panic. Oh crap. Oooh crap. What now? $%^#!#&. Ross is completely stone faced. Silence falls upon him and now if he was nervous before, now he's completely internally flustered. Minutes pass. Heather's not sure what to do. Her boyfriend has gone completely silent and here they are sitting on this bench just watching people walk by on in this small downtown area. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine." "Why is your lip quivering?" "My lips aren't quivering," as Ross's lips are shaking faster and faster. Ross doesn't know what to do. Heather asks, "Do you want to go for a walk? Grab a coffee or a drink? Do you wanna go back to the car and head back home?" Okay, Ross thinks. If we get up and walk around for a few minutes, we can be back over to the bench in like five or ten minutes. And then the ex-boyfriend will still be over there. That's dumb! It's got to be now. So Ross worked up the courage (over another few long silent minutes). Ross finally started to get some words out to Heather telling how much he loves her, got down on one knee, and she said YES!

For all the days along the way
