FAQs

Question

Which airport should guests fly into?

Answer

San Diego International Airport (SAN)

Question

How far is the airport from the venue?

Answer

The airport is about 8 miles south of the venue, and a 15 minute car drive with no traffic.

Question

Are rental cars recommended?

Answer

San Diego offers plenty of transportation options to help you get from point A to point B but if you plan to explore the city and surrounding areas, we recommend renting a car. For our small-town friends, be prepared for some city traffic. If you think a 15-minute traffic jam is bad, you may encounter longer delays during peak travel times. That said, San Diego traffic is generally much more manageable than the stereotypical California traffic you might associate with Los Angeles. While you should plan for some extra travel time, getting around the city is still very doable, and having a car gives you the flexibility to make the most of your visit.

Question

Where can I rent a car on a budget

Answer

A few budget-friendly car rental options near San Diego Airport include Thrifty, Dollar, and Budget, where you can often find 5-passenger vehicles starting around $37 per day. It's also worth considering rental locations outside the airport, as they are often less expensive. Because San Diego is a large city with many rental agencies, there are plenty of nearby options, and many can be reached via shuttle, rideshare, or a short taxi ride. Maria's Recommendation: Avis Rental at 1350 Sixth Avenue. They have shuttles that can take you from the airport to their office which is about 3 miles away. You can also take an Uber/Lyft to the location. There you can rent an economy 5-passenger vehicle for as little as $27 per day. BUT HERE IS THE DEAL: TO PLAY IT SAFE, RESERVE YOUR RENTAL IN ADVANCE (AT LEAST A MONTH AHEAD). Otherwise, the costs will be significantly more expensive.

Question

Is parking available at the venue?

Answer

Yes! The venue does provide sufficient parking, but for convenience—and safety—we recommend using a rideshare service to the wedding so you can fully relax and enjoy yourself. For reference, the Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel is about a 13–15 minute drive away, with an Uber typically costing around $26 one way.

Question

Will there be a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, brunch, or other events?

Answer

We will have a rehearsal dinner on Thursday, November 5th and a brunch on Saturday, November 7th after 12 pm at Rosie’s brother’s house for family and the wedding party. 1176 Myra Ave, Chula Vista, CA

Question

Can I bring my own alcohol to the wedding?

Answer

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own alcohol. While we will provide beer and a selection of mixed drinks, guests can also bring their own beverages. Please note that alcohol is not allowed in the lawn area. However, it is permitted on the sidewalk outside and in indoor spaces. During cocktail hour, drinks are welcome—just not on the grass area.

Question

Should guests bring a jacket or sweater for the evening?

Answer

The average temperature in San Diego in early November is around 74°F, but evenings can feel cooler since we are close to the ocean. While all of the celebration will be indoors, we recommend bringing layers in case you’d like to step outside for a bit. The venue also has a lounge area with heat lamps available for anyone who wants a break from the music or a quieter space to relax.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code for the wedding is semi-formal—feel free to dress up and be comfortable! November in San Diego is typically mild, with warm afternoons and cooler evenings. The ceremony will be held outdoors at 4:00 PM, followed by cocktail hour at 5:00 PM, with the reception indoors. Since the ceremony and cocktail hour are both outside, we recommend bringing a light jacket or wrap in case it gets cool later in the evening—though we’re hoping by the time the reception and dancing begin, everyone will have warmed up on the dance floor!
