How We Met

Sometimes a set up goes right.

Let us start this story by thanking Regina (Rosie's older sister, not the eldest) for setting us up. Picture it: February 2021. COVID was still the main topic of every conversation. Only key people were getting vaccinated. We thought that normal was only months away. Kathy's friend talked up Rosie for six months. Regina casually mentioned that there was someone she wanted to introduce Rosie to. A date was set for January. Rosie then promptly slipped on some ice and got a concussion. The meet-up was, understandably, pushed back. Finally, the fateful February day came along. It was a casual party with all vaccinated people. What neither Kathy nor Rosie knew was that everyone else at the party was a nurse. If you have ever been in a room full of nurses, then you know that all nurses want to talk about is their job. Despite the fishbowl effect, the conversation between the two flowed. Too soon, Rosie had to leave. Kathy, with the rather aggressive encouragement of literally everyone at the party, ran after Rosie to ask for her number. Their first date was at a brewery, where their planned hour-and-a-half quick beer and chat ended four hours, three pints, and endless stories later. The next year brought adventure, laughs, and love. After a double-wedding weekend, they decided to move in together. They’ve been financially supporting the retirement lifestyle of their elderly chihuahua, Bittie, ever since. Nearly four years later, they’ve decided to “put a ring on it,” cry in front of their closest friends and family, and enjoy good food with people they love dearly.
