At the start of quarantine, we decided to build a kitchen table for Rosie's house. With a lot of help from YouTube and frequent visits to Home Depot, we made great initial progress. Unfortunately, the legs didn't attach exactly how we thought they would, resulting in a not-so-sturdy table and a significant decrease in motivation. Labor day weekend, we committed to finish the table so we could eat our first dinner on it for Rosie's birthday. It took five months, but it was finally finished! After dinner, Will asked Rosie to go upstairs so he could get out her present and light a candle. When she came back down, she blew out her candle and opened her gifts. Underneath one of the gifts was a sharpie for them to both sign the bottom of the table. When Rosie climbed underneath to sign her name, she saw the words "Will you marry me?" staring back at her. Will grabbed the ring and got down on one knee. It was the greatest birthday gift she never saw coming.
We met at a church youth group event and were in the same friend group throughout middle school and high school. We dated for approximately one month freshman year of high school, but apparently Rosie came home one day and told her mom it was more important for them to break up now and be friends later. We did in fact remain good friends over the years and would get together when home on breaks. While we both considered dating the other person several times after college, the timing never worked out. After Will moved home to Houston in 2018, they found themselves running into each other again. One night after an Astros game, Rosie and her parents met Will and his now roommates at a bar downtown. One conversation led to another and they finally started dating!
