Jeremiah
Chatan / Groom
Jeremiah (he/him) was born and raised in Worcester, MA. He went to college at SUNY Albany, where he majored in biology. His studies took him to South Africa, where he lived and worked as a field assistant observing Vervet monkeys for a year. He now works at Duke as the Assistant Director of SPIRE and Cardea, two fellowship programs that support underrepresented students in STEM and pre-health. He is passionate about science and enjoys art museums and bad movies. In his free time, Jeremiah can be found practicing martial arts, wooing the neighborhood cats, and planning his next hiking trip.
Lauren
Kallah / Bride
Lauren (she/her) was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Tennessee, New Jersey, and North Carolina. She went to Appalachian State undergrad (go 'neers), completed a year of service in Baltimore shortly after, and went on to earn her Master of Social Work at University of Michigan. She currently works remotely as the Alumni Manager at Avodah, a Jewish nonprofit that develops lifelong social justice leaders. Lauren is passionate about Jewish community in the south and solidarity movement building. In her free time, you can find her baking treats, cataloging birds, and doing crafts.
Sass Orol-Brown

Sass Brown (they/them) is a rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Sass grew up in Raleigh, and worked in the local Jewish community before heading up to NYC for school. They like reading poetry and playing long board games. Sass has been friends with Jeremiah and Lauren since 2015 when they all met.
