FAQs

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

You can RSVP via our wedding website. Simply click on the RSVP tab, enter your name, and indicate your attendance. Please RSVP by 9/4/2026. Following formal invitations and RSVPs, we will send a background check form to anyone who does not have a CAC or military ID. Make sure to return your completed background check paperwork in the provided envelope. This needs to be returned by 09/18/2026.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Due to space constraints, we can only accommodate named guests on the invitation. We appreciate your understanding. If your invitation lists a "guest", you are invited to bring a plus one.

Question

How do we gain base access?

Answer

The wedding and reception venue are both located on an active military installation. All guests over 18 need to be pre-approved for access. Once we receive your RSVP following the formal invitation, we will mail or email you a form to fill out and send back to us. Please fill this out, sign it, and return it to Jeremiah and Brittney in the included envelope. RSPVs are needed by 9/4/2026, and this form needs to be returned to us by 9/18/2026. If you have any questions or need help filling out the form, please contact Brittney at 757-373-5198 or rosemillikanwedding@gmail.com. Note that you do not need to fill in the Employer Information on page 2 (blocks 25-27). Please note that any guest over the age of 18 will also need a REAL ID to access the installation. You will only be able to access the base through Gate 2. This is the only gate that will have a guest list for our wedding. The form (SECNAV 5512 APR 2025) is also available here if you would like to preview it or download it yourself: https://www.secnav.navy.mil/doni/nfol/forms/allitems.aspx?Paged=TRUE&p_SortBehavior=0&p_FileLeafRef=SECNAV%205512%5F1%20%20RE%2Epdf&p_ID=1121&RootFolder=%2Fdoni%2FNFOL%2FSECNAV%2FSECNAV%20Forms&PageFirstRow=31&&View=%7BB4E89F14-5AE1-4D83-B85E-C63169BF9E34%7D

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

Shuttles will be provided from the hotel to the Chapel and then to Vista Point Catering and Conference Center on Naval Station Norfolk. The shuttle will also return guests back to the hotel at the end of the night. Please see the Travel page for more details.

Question

Where do we park?

Answer

The reception venue has a large parking lot with open parking. The Chapel has a small parking lot. You can use street parking or park in the SURFLANT parking lot (at the intersection of Morris Street and Bacon Avenue). Just watch any assigned spots.

Question

Are there accommodations nearby?

Answer

Yes, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Doubletree by Hilton Norfolk Airport. Use the following link to register: https://www.hilton.com/en/attend-my-event/rose-millikanevent-hiltondt/. Please book by 9/16/2026 to take advantage of the hotel block.

Question

What can we expect immediately following the ceremony?

Answer

Immediately following our ceremony, we invite all guests to gather on the sidewalk in front of the Chapel to witness the traditional Arch of Swords ceremony. During this special military tradition, our sword bearers will form an arch with their ceremonial swords, under which we'll share our first walk as a married couple. The Sword Arch is a symbolic welcome and pledge of protection, honor, and loyalty to us as we enter our new life together. This cherished military wedding tradition will take place at approximately 2:30 PM, directly after the ceremony concludes and we exit the Chapel.

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Semi-formal. Military members are invited to wear their dress uniform.
